How does the Civic Association benefit me as a member when non-members get to enjoy the same benefits, i.e. neighborhood beautification and events?
While it may seem like everyone benefits equally from neighborhood beautification or community events, the truth is that those things only happen because of our members. Your support directly funds the equipment, planning, and volunteer efforts that keep Gulf Hills safe, connected, and beautiful.
A strong Civic Association means we can do more—more improvements, more safety services, and more opportunities to bring neighbors together. Membership isn’t just about enjoying what already exists—it’s about investing in what’s possible.
By becoming a member, you're not just benefiting personally. You’re playing a part in shaping the future of Gulf Hills for yourself, your neighbors, and generations to come. The more people who join, the more we can achieve together.
Is the Civic Association a Homeowners’ Association?
The Gulf Hills Civic Association isnot a Home Owners Association (HOA) with required yearly fees, building guidelines, and supported activities. Rather, Gulf Hills abides by the zoning regulations and general rules of Jackson County. Civic Association membership is voluntary but highly encouraged to stay updated about the latest events and efforts in the community.
How are decisions made within the association?
When a resident has a concern or a problem, that issue is brought to a director who in turn delivers the specifics for discussion and direction at the next Board of Directors meeting. Using this process, the full resources of the Civic Association can be used to influence the best resolution.
How are membership dues used?
Dues and revenues from events help fund neighborhood signage, maintain the many beautiful gardens throughout the community, allow us to host events, and ensure we can consistently communicate with membership through multiple channels.
How can I get involved or volunteer with the association?
If you are interested in becoming more involved and/or volunteering for a specific event, please email gulfhillsca@gmail.com or contact any of our board members!
How does the association communicate with residents (newsletter, email, social media)?
The main communication channels include a Gulf Hills Civic Association Facebook Group and a quarterly newsletter that is delivered to every home in the neighborhood through USPS.
Is there a way to submit ideas, concerns, or feedback to the board?
Yes! If you have a concern or feedback, please share directly with a board member or email gulfhillsca@gmail.com so it can be addressed at the next board meeting.

A strong civic association is one of the most effective and affordable ways for a community to protect its value and navigate the changes that come with growth and time. Since 1955, the Gulf Hills Civic Association has given residents a way to come together, share their concerns, and have a voice in what’s happening in our neighborhood. Local agencies in Jackson County also work closely with the association, often consulting us on plans that affect Gulf Hills. Learn more here.
